Mike Elliott was born in 1979 in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, near the edge of the cornfields. He moved to San Francisco to attend the Academy of Art University, where he studied photography. Living in the natural beauty of the american west, Mike gravitated towards fine art and landscape photography. While studying at the Academy, Mike learned proficiency with film, digital, and alternative photography processes.
Using these techniques, he honed his skills at landscape, still life, architecture, portraiture, product, and travel photography.During Mike's years at the Academy, he learned the tools of th e trade, including digital, 35mm, medium format, and large format cameras. For his personal work he shoots using the Hasselblad medium format film camera, because of its wide tonal range and high quality lenses. For his commisioned work, Mike shoots with Nikon digital cameras in order to expedite images to the client. While proficient in both studio and location shoots, Mike is also well-versed in the art of digital retouching and printing.
All of Mike's images are available for purchase in a variety of sizes. Contact for sizing, paper options, and pricing. All photos are printed in-house using Epson K3 inks on acid-free PH neutral papers at sizes up to 24 by 90 inches. Since the film Mike uses is such a large format, his images have been commissioned to be printed at sizes up to 12 by 30 feet.
Recently, Mike has shifted his creative focus back to more direct media as a break from technical photo work. Since February 2009, he ended an eight year hiatus from painting, a creative outlet that had been put on hold to focus on photography. Mike's paintings can be viewed and (purchased) at his painting site, http://www.meart.me/
